However, I refuse to stay inside for the duration of Lucy’s toddlerhood and believe that exposing her to the situations that are normal to our family will teach her how to respond to those events. Quite a few of my friends have either just had a baby, or are due in the very near future and this has me thinking about those first few weeks at home when everyone wants to come and visit (less you and more of) the new baby. To be honest, it’s lovely for people to come out of their way and visit you, but the thought of friends stepping into the messy, laundry-strewn, dishes-piled-high house was very stressful. I know that nobody else cares about the mess or having something to eat and drink, but for me I just wanted a tidy space to sit in with my visitors.  So here are some tips to survive the onslaught of visitors with minimal stress!
